At Back In Balance Massage & Bodyworks, we're committed to providing your with a relaxing stress-free experience each and every time you visit. This includes friendly staff, professional massage therapists and a calming, inviting environment. Here's what you can expect from your first visit and massage therapy session with us.
1) Before You Arrive
It's always a good idea to arrive 15 minutes early for your massage therapy or detoxification appointment. This will give you the time you need to complete your paperwork and take a few minutes to relax and unwind. As we are often very busy and book up spots quickly, late arrivals may cut into the session time you have paid for. Don't lose out on that precious treatment time. Make sure to give yourself plenty of leeway to drive here, find the location, park, and get in.
2) Meet Your Massage Therapist
Once you arrive at Back In Balance Massage & Bodyworks, you'll be greeted and asked to fill out some light paperwork including our Back In Balance Chart as well a quick survey. This Back In Balance Chart is where you'll document any medical history, past/present injuries and other physical conditions we should be made aware of. This is for your personal physical protection and also helps us to better understand how to best serve you and cater to your specific needs.
Your massage therapist will greet you and review the Back In Balance Chart with you. He or she will inquire about the services you'll be having, the reason(s) you have come in for a massage or detox treatment, your current physical condition, and any specific areas in which you are experiencing pain or would like to focus on during your massage therapy session.
3) Beginning Your Therapy Session
As soon as you're ready, your massage therapist will take you to our relaxing treatment room where a comfortable massage table dressed with a warming blanket and crisp clean sheets awaits. An area for your personal belongings and a seat are also provided for your convenience.
Your massage therapist will leave the room and wait outside while you disrobe to your level of comfort. The massage etiquette varies for clients. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe, while some will remain partially clothed. Either option is fine so don't feel obligated to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Remember... this time is all about you!
Once disrobed, you will lie on the massage table, under the top sheet. Your massage therapist will give you a few minutes for this process and will knock on the door to ask if you are ready before entering your room. You will always be draped with the top sheet during your massage session. The etiquette your massage therapist will follow is to only uncover the part of the body they are working on, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times.
You can expect a tranquil, soothing, and extremely relaxed environment during your massage therapy or detoxification session. The massage table is padded and a heating blanket is placed beneath the sheet, which you can have adjusted to your preference. There will be relaxing music playing, unless you request otherwise, and the room should be quiet, with no outside distractions.
4) During Your Therapy Session
Before beginning the session, your licensed massage therapist will ask you to alert him or her if, at any time during the session, a technique or stroke they are using becomes uncomfortable or painful. Depending on your specific needs or requests, your massage therapist will either perform a customized full-body massage (for general relaxation and stress reduction) or focus on the specific parts of your body that you have requested. Back In Balance Massage & Bodyworks uses only the highest quality hypoallergenic massage creams and lotions for your massage. Either way, if you are sensitive to any types of oils, creams, or lotions, please let your massage therapist know before hand to avoid any discomfort.
And don't forget... this is your customized massage therapy session and this time is all about bringing you, your body, and your mind back in balance. If you have any feedback on the pressure, technique, room temperature, music, or lighting, please let us know how we can better your experience.
5) Wrapping Up
Once your massage therapy or detoxification session is complete, your therapist will leave the room so you may re-dress. Your therapist will wait outside the room for you with a cup of water, and then take you back to the front area when you're ready.
Our massage therapy and detox sessions vary from 50 to 80 minutes depending on the length and package you choose. Extended sessions are available by request and depend upon scheduling openings. Each session includes a 5 minute pre-interview and 5 minutes at the end for you to re-dress and gather your belongings.
We look forward to seeing you for your first visit and for many more after that. If you have any further questions about the etiquette during a massage, or about your first visit, please feel free to CONTACT US.
